https://docs.google.com/document/d/1XfRajafHHdB7O4Y2TxN1k7JYe_8tmnEs5J5u_aLSQHk/edit?usp=sharing

Pre Writing Artifact:

Ideas for Part 1

  • Write about where I have lived in New Orleans/ Point Clear

  • Mention things only people where I'm from would know

  • Mabey Randazzos Vs Dongphong

  • Inspired by the Cowbell de Raken Society

  • From Holly Grove to the lower 9th ward or New Orleans East

  • Describe houses/childhood stories

  • No intros or conclusions make it read like a poem

Revision Artifact:

  • I am from a land where neighbors are like family and no one is your neighborhood is excluded. People get together on the regular to hang out, cook creole foods and celebrate. Neighbors and friends celebrate holidays with each other not just their families. From the months…

  • About ten years ago my family and I went to a ranch in Wyoming to ride horses. I was riding right behind my family and there were flies annoying his horse. The horse was angry and kicked backward and hit me in my shin. We continued the ride and I did not go to the doctor, but there was a big gash in my shin…

I am from the swamp,

From humidity and heat.

I am from the land below the North.

(Hated and loved

It's an acquired taste)

I am from the lily pads,

The Cyprus tree

whose stumps emerge from the water

As if to make themselves seen

Ideas for Part 2

  • Write about what I am involved in at TCU (Greek/clubs)

  • Write about where I am currently, like English class

  • Describe my dorm room in detail

  • Use delt house for my site visit

  • Think of questions for the interview

Revision Artifact:

  • Every week we gather in the Foster dormitory. My friends and I hang out there and talk about what we were up to during the week. We move from room to room finding new people to talk to until we are back to where we started. Once there we hang out and talk and prepare for the night ahead of us…

Pre Writing Artifact:

Ideas for part 3

Increasing frequency and strength of hurricanes

  • Make final campaign

Community service event (Hogs for the Cause)

High GPAs are no longer as important

Introvert's guide to community involvement

Community involvement on campus

  • What % of TCU students are involved?

  • What does one get out of being involved

  • Why didn’t I join anything

Revision Artifact:

  • TCU is not just renowned for its education, but also its active and engaged community. Because of this it is ranked number 43 on "Colleges with the Best Student Life in America" and is ranked number 2 on The Wall Street Journal's list of the most engaged and happy students.

  • In America, about 60% of college students are involved in extracurriculars at their school. Because so many people are involved in college organizations you are almost guaranteed to find a group that shares your interests and goals.

  • There are dozens on benefits one can gain by being about of a college club/organization. These include making friends you will know for the rest of your life (networking). Being a part of one of these college communities can also improve you leadership and teamwork skills, as well as decrease stress and give you a break from studying/school work.

Final Campaign

https://www.instagram.com/hurricaneseasonstories/?hl=en

  About:

In my final campaign, I am raising awareness about how climate

change has caused the intensity and frequency of hurricanes in the

Atlantic to increase. To raise awareness I have created an Instagram

account that shares the stories of people close to me and talks about

the effects these storms have had on their lives. I also attached a link

to Red Crosses hurricane relief efforts.
