WHAT HAPPENS WHEN DEAF PEOPLE GO TO THE MOVIES?

Chella Man is an American actor, YouTuber, and model that is known for sharing his experiences as a deaf and genderqueer man. He was born in Pennsylvania in 1998 and is both Jewish and Chinese. When he was born he was assigned female and experienced gender dysmorphia. In his video "WHAT HAPPENS WHEN DEAF PEOPLE GO TO THE MOVIES?" Chella and his friend Nyle walk the viewer through their average trip to a movie theater. They start by talking about how uncomfortable the experience at movie theaters is for deaf people and how they cannot enjoy the movies. When they walk into the theater they tell the workers that they are deaf and need a cat iView, which allows them to read subtitles to the movie. The movie theater employee misunderstands them and instead brings out an audio description device. Once the worker understands she brings out an old and dirty cat iView and changes the batteries to it. Once seated Chella and Nyle describe how there are no subtitles for the previews, the cat iView machine blocks half the screen and will not stay in its holder, and Nyle's machine is set to the wrong movie. Once they have head enough the two leave the theater ask for a refund and say that they probably will not be coming back. Chella made this video in order to show the average person the troubles a deaf person must endure just to see a movie.
